I truly came to love the concept of Self-leadership, so much so that I wrote a book around it. Self-leadership in my personal and professional life has helped me to know myself better, what I love, my values, my strengths and weaknesses and most importantly how to lead others with empathy. The practice helped me lead myself toward my goals and aspirations. It was the foundation of my personal and professional success. Self-leadership is not about being selfish or arrogant. It is about being self-aware, self-motivated, self-disciplined, and self-directed.

• Set SMART goals: SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Setting SMART goals helps you clarify what you want to achieve, how you will measure your progress, and when you will accomplish it.
• Plan your actions: Once you have your goals, break them down into smaller steps and tasks. Plan your actions in advance and schedule them in your calendar. This will help you stay focused and organized.
• Monitor your performance: Track your results and evaluate your performance regularly. Celebrate your wins and learn from your setbacks. Identify what works and what doesn’t work for you. Adjust your plan and actions accordingly.
• Seek feedback: Feedback is essential for learning and improvement. Seek feedback from others who can offer you constructive criticism and support. Listen to their opinions and suggestions with an open mind. Incorporate their feedback into your plan and actions.
• Reflect on your experiences: Reflection is a powerful tool for self-awareness and growth. Reflect on your experiences regularly and ask yourself questions such as: What did I do well? What did I do poorly? What did I learn? How can I improve? What can I do differently next time?
• Invest in yourself: Self-leadership requires continuous learning and development. Invest in yourself by reading books, taking courses, attending workshops, joining communities, etc. that can help you expand your knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Practice self-care: Self-leadership also requires taking care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Practice self-care by eating well, sleeping well, exercising regularly, meditating, relaxing, etc. that can help you maintain your health and well-being. Self-leadership is not easy, but it is rewarding. By developing your self-leadership skills, you can become more confident, productive, resilient, and successful in life and work. Start today and lead yourself to greatness!
